Health screening

Under the health pillar we provide assessments, special individualized exercise prescriptions and monitoring of patients and clients that aims to improve their health. All clients undergo a thorough pre-exercise health screening. During this consultation we will document your medical history and do a few medical tests that will be applicable to your situation such as: body composition, fitness levels, blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose.

Orthopedic problems

Mild cases of orthopedic related problems will also be addressed by doing orthopedic and postural assessments. The Biokineticist will use this information to prescribe a suitable exercise programme and provide assistance regarding positive lifestyle changes to improve health. After the assessment clients / patients will receive a comprehensive report with recommendations and health goals to work towards.

Continued support

Patients / clients can then join the gym facility and take a monthly membership, or continue with a personal training option where one of the Biokineticists will personally supervise them during all sessions to ensure the best possible results.

Our sport specific conditioning and functional fitness sessions are open to anyone. Whether you are young or old, participating on a highly competitive level or just want to stay or get fit in a functional way of training.

Pre-exercise health screenings and supervised therapeutic exercise sessions will be covered by most Medical Schemes, but affordable cash rates are also available should you not belong to a Medical Aid. Appointments for consultations assessments and supervised sessions can be arranged in the comfort of your own home.

Our story

We have 29 years’ experience in the health, fitness and rehabilitation industry.

Francois Swanepoel

Francois is 55 years old and has practiced as a Registered Biokineticist here in Mossel Bay since 1997. His personal interests and past times are centred around sports, exercise and the outdoors. He is an avid golfer and have played the game form the age of 12. He had a very successful amateur career, earning Provincial as well as SA University colours and was able to maintain a single figure handicap for most of the past 35 years.

Francois used to be a keen road runner and he has run just under 100 standard marathons, completed 10 Comrades Ultra Marathons (90km) and 10 Two Oceans Ultra Marathons (56km). Furthermore he enjoy snorkelling, sea kayaking, fishing and hunting.

He is happily married to Corlia – a Pharmacist and they have two beautiful boys: Albert and Edward.

As a Biokineticist he specialised in Orthopaedic and Neurological rehabilitation.

Arno Moolman

Arno is a 31-year-old Registered Biokineticist who grew up in the heart of Mossel Bay. He attended Park Primary School and matriculated at Oakdale Agricultural High School in Riversdale.

He completed his undergraduate degree in BSc Human Movement Science and Physiology at North-West University in 2016 and went on to obtain his BSc Honours degree in Biokinetics from the University of the Western Cape in 2018. In 2019, Arno completed his internship in Mossel Bay under the guidance of practice owner Francois Swanepoel at the Da Gama Medical Centre.

Arno has a strong sporting background, having represented provincial teams in both cricket and rugby from U13 to U19 level. He attended various athletics and rugby clinics and, during his studies, obtained his Cricket South Africa Level 1 coaching qualification. He also provided private cricket coaching and worked with rugby goal kickers in his spare time.

He continues to play club cricket in Mossel Bay and completed his first Trans Agulhas Race — the world’s toughest inflatable boat race — in 2025.

With his active lifestyle and sporting background, Arno’s professional interests include orthopaedic rehabilitation, sport-specific conditioning and injury rehabilitation, wellness programmes, and working with the elderly population.

Arno has over five years of experience as a registered Biokineticist and is passionate about helping patients improve their physical performance, recover from injury, and achieve long-term health and wellbeing.

What is the cost to join our programmes?

Money spent on exercise is a huge investment in your future health and quality of living!

Earn points with us

Consultations, assessments and supervised exercise sessions will be covered by most Medical Schemes, but affordable cash rates are also available upon request.

Assessments and supervised exercise sessions will be covered by most Medical Aids. Rates for the procedures are according to Tariff codes set by the Council of Medical Schemes. We will submit claims directly to your Medical Aid. If you do not belong to a Medical Aid, accounts for the assessments and supervised sessions will be payable in cash.

Initial assessment and first three supervised exercise sessions = R2400.00

If the Biokineticist is convinced that you will be able to perform the exercise program safely, you will then be able to continue on your own – semi-supervised. A Biokineticist and / or Biokinetic Intern will always be on duty in the Centre to monitor exercise sessions and provide assistance where needed.

Please make an appointment for your evaluation and first exercise session, thereafter you can make use of our facilities at any time.

Terms & Conditions:

Packages work on a monthly basis and sessions cannot be carried over to next month.
You will have to book your sessions in a specific time slot and only a limited number of members will be allowed to train within a one hour time slot.
The above fees are not applicable to medical rehabilitation. For all rehabilitation Medical Scheme rates will apply.
